Methodology: Median salary figures reflect DecipherU's reference compensation bands per role, calibrated against Levels.fyi reported data, Built In and Glassdoor open compensation reports, and BLS occupational classification 15-1252 (Software Developers) and 15-2051 (Data Scientists). Bands are US national medians; senior San Francisco, New York, and Seattle compensation typically runs 20-30% above the median. Equity is not included in the figure.
