What does the Risk Score measure?
Two dimensions: AI displacement risk for your current role, and AI security frontier readiness. The output is deterministic (no LLM in the scoring path) and recommends one of the three growing career paths.

Certifications
Which certification should I get first?
For cybersecurity: CompTIA Security+. It is the floor for federal contractor work and unlocks the $75,000-$95,000 SOC Analyst range. For Applied AI: AWS Certified AI Practitioner, the lowest-cost foundation cert that signals working LLM literacy.
Does DecipherU offer its own certifications?
Yes, Range Credentials (cryptographically signed Open Badges) and elite-course completion credentials, both verifiable by employers via Ed25519 signature.
How many questions are on the Security+ exam?
Up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions in a 90-minute window, per CompTIA's SY0-701 exam objectives. Passing score is 750 on a scaled 100-900 range.
How long should I study for Security+, CySA+, CASP+, or the ISC2 CC?
It depends on your starting point more than a fixed number of hours. Security+ spans five broad domains and assumes some prior IT exposure; CySA+ and PenTest+ sit a tier above it and lean on performance-based scenarios; CASP+ is CompTIA's advanced technical cert and assumes Security+-level fluency already in place; the ISC2 CC is the shortest path and is designed for complete beginners with no prerequisites. Rather than target a study-hour count, work through each domain in the exam's own blueprint until you can explain every key concept without notes.
Is CompTIA Security+ worth it in 2026?
For most people breaking into cybersecurity, yes. It is vendor-neutral, DoD 8140 approved for IAT Level II roles, and still the certification hiring filters ask for most often at the entry tier. It will not replace hands-on skill, but it removes a common resume screen-out.
Should I get Security+ or Network+ first?

Is DecipherU's Security+ practice exam actually free?
Yes. The first practice question on any certification is free and does not require an account. Answering a second question requires signing in with a free DecipherU account, which lets us save your progress. A separate paid exam-prep add-on bundles the practice bank with a full parent course for candidates who want structured curriculum on top.
What's the difference between the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) and Security+?
ISC2 CC is a five-domain entry credential with no prerequisites: 100 questions, 120 minutes, and a $50 exam fee for first-time test-takers under ISC2's One Million Certified in Cybersecurity program. Security+ is a five-domain vendor-neutral credential with a $404 exam fee that carries DoD 8140 approval for IAT Level II work roles, which the CC does not. The CC is the cheaper entry point into the ISC2 ecosystem (a path toward CISSP later); Security+ carries broader recognition and the DoD approval today.
Do I need a college degree for a cybersecurity career?
No, not for most entry-level roles. Certifications, hands-on labs, and demonstrable skill carry real weight in cybersecurity hiring, and many practitioners enter the field through IT support or military experience rather than a four-year degree. A degree can still help for certain government or senior roles, but it is not a hard requirement industry-wide.
How much does the Security+ exam cost?
$404 for the exam voucher as of our last verification, per CompTIA's own certification page. Confirm the current fee directly with CompTIA before registering, since vendor pricing can change.

Does DecipherU have a public roadmap?
Yes, at /roadmap. It shows Now (active builds, most ship within 30 days), Next (planned and scoped, within 90 days), and Later (confirmed direction, no committed date) buckets.
Can I influence what ships next?
Yes. Operator and Frontier subscribers can vote on roadmap items, and sequencing depends on that voting alongside dependency unlocks. Signed-in users can also submit a suggestion directly from the roadmap page; the review queue triages it into a roadmap item.
