Can I get my money back?
Full analysis: 30 days from purchase, full refund, no questions asked. Older purchases such as courses and pre-enrollments are refunded on request. Use the form at /refund-request or see /help. We reply within two business days and the money returns within seven business days of approval.

What does the Risk Score measure?
Two dimensions: AI displacement risk for your current role, and AI security frontier readiness. The output is deterministic (no LLM in the scoring path) and recommends one of the three growing career paths.
How long does it take?

Is it accurate?
It is a directional signal anchored on BLS occupational projections, NIST AI RMF, McKinsey AI exposure index, and ISC2 workforce data. Sources cited inline on the result page.

What courses does DecipherU offer?

How many career guides does DecipherU have?
50+ cybersecurity career guides plus 36 Applied AI career guides. Each guide includes BLS salary data, O*NET skills, certifications, and a recommended career path.
Are entry-level cybersecurity careers actually available?
Yes. SOC Analyst, GRC Analyst and Security Awareness Manager are common first roles. BLS publishes pay by occupation, not job title: Information Security Analysts, the closest occupation, had a median of $129,180 in May 2025. The 'cybersecurity is impossible to break into' narrative is overstated; the entry tier is real, just competitive.
Certifications
Which certification should I get first?
For cybersecurity: CompTIA Security+. It is the floor for federal contractor work and opens the $75,000-$95,000 SOC Analyst range. For Applied AI: AWS Certified AI Practitioner, the lowest-cost foundation cert that signals working LLM literacy.
Does DecipherU offer its own certifications?
Yes, Range Credentials (cryptographically signed Open Badges) and elite-course completion credentials, both verifiable by employers via Ed25519 signature.
How many questions are on the Security+ exam?
Up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions in a 90-minute window, per CompTIA's SY0-701 exam objectives. Passing score is 750 on a scaled 100-900 range.
How long should I study for Security+, CySA+, CASP+, or the ISC2 CC?
It depends on your starting point more than a fixed number of hours. Security+ spans five broad domains and assumes some prior IT exposure; CySA+ and PenTest+ sit a tier above it and lean on performance-based scenarios; CASP+ is CompTIA's advanced technical cert and assumes Security+-level fluency already in place; the ISC2 CC is the shortest path and is designed for complete beginners with no prerequisites. Rather than target a study-hour count, work through each domain in the exam's own blueprint until you can explain every key concept without notes.
Is CompTIA Security+ worth it in 2026?
For most people breaking into cybersecurity, yes. It is vendor-neutral, DoD 8140 approved for IAT Level II roles, and still the certification hiring filters ask for most often at the entry tier. It will not replace hands-on skill, but it removes a common resume screen-out.
Should I get Security+ or Network+ first?
See the full breakdown at /compare/comptia-security-plus-vs-comptia-network-plus. In general, candidates already comfortable with networking fundamentals can go straight to Security+; candidates newer to IT overall often take Network+ first to build the foundation Security+ assumes.
Is DecipherU's practice actually free?
Yes. DecipherU no longer offers Security+ or other CompTIA practice: CompTIA does not authorize AI-written practice questions, so those banks were taken down on October 28, 2026. Practice on every live exam is free and does not require an account, up to 200 answers per exam per day. A free DecipherU account keeps your progress on every device. The full analysis of an exam, with the right answer, the reason and the source for every question, is a separate one-time purchase of $39 with a 30-day full refund.
What's the difference between the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) and Security+?
ISC2 CC is a five-domain entry credential with no prerequisites: an adaptive exam of 100 to 125 items in up to 2 hours, and a $199 exam fee (ISC2's free One Million Certified in Cybersecurity exam codes must be used by December 31, 2026). Security+ is a five-domain vendor-neutral credential with a $404 exam fee that carries DoD 8140 approval for IAT Level II work roles, which the CC does not. The CC is the cheaper entry point into the ISC2 ecosystem (a path toward CISSP later); Security+ carries broader recognition and the DoD approval today.
Do I need a college degree for a cybersecurity career?
No, not for most entry-level roles. Certifications, hands-on labs, and demonstrable skill carry real weight in cybersecurity hiring, and many practitioners enter the field through IT support or military experience rather than a four-year degree. A degree can still help for certain government or senior roles, but it is not a hard requirement industry-wide.
How much does the Security+ exam cost?
$404 for the exam voucher as of our last verification, per CompTIA's own certification page. Confirm the current fee directly with CompTIA before registering, since vendor pricing can change.
AI Coach
Is the AI Coach actually AI?
Yes. Built on Anthropic Claude. It self-identifies as AI on the first turn, carries provenance headers (X-AI-Generated, X-AI-Model, X-AI-Provider, X-AI-Disclosure), and is governed by the prompt registry at packages/ai/src/prompts/registry.ts.
How is the AI Coach different from ChatGPT?
It is grounded in the DecipherU knowledge graph: 50+ cybersecurity roles, 36 Applied AI roles, 27 cybersecurity certifications and 7 Applied AI certifications, salary data, every elite course's curriculum. It cites our content directly. It also enforces the no-founder-time rule (never offers 1:1, never offers to rewrite your resume).
Product Roadmap
Does DecipherU have a public roadmap?
Yes, at /roadmap. It shows Now (active builds, most ship within 30 days), Next (planned and scoped, within 90 days), and Later (confirmed direction, no committed date) buckets.
Can I influence what ships next?
Yes. Operator and Frontier subscribers can vote on roadmap items, and sequencing depends on that voting alongside which items depend on others. Signed-in users can also submit a suggestion directly from the roadmap page; the review queue triages it into a roadmap item.
