Cybersecurity course and coaching refund policy
DecipherU is a cybersecurity and Applied AI career platform. Our refund policy is tiered by product so the window matches the abuse-vector and the deal economics. 14 days plus a 25% completion gate on subscriptions. 7 days plus a 10% completion gate on single elite courses and on bundles. 30 days plus a Module 1 completion gate on foundation courses. 7 days on coaching. No refund on already-delivered one-time deliverables. One refund per customer across DecipherU lifetime, plus a 90-day re-purchase lockout on the refunded course (and any tier that includes it). USD only.
Subscriptions: 14 days, with a 25% curriculum-completion gate
Cancel within 14 calendar days of your most recent subscription charge while your completion across the bundled curriculum stays under 25%, and we refund that charge in full. The completion gate exists because Operator and Frontier subscriptions include the entire elite-course library; without a gate, the subscription would route around the standalone-course refund window. Cancel from your account settings or email support. Future billing stops immediately.
If you only need to step away temporarily, request a subscription pause of 1 to 3 months instead. Pauses freeze billing and preserve your assessment data, progress, and library access. Resuming is one click.
Single elite courses: 7 days, with a 10% completion gate
Buy a single elite course ($497 to $697), change your mind within 7 calendar days while you have completed less than 10% of the lessons, get a full refund. The completion metric is lesson views and video watch time tracked in your course progress. 10% is roughly the first module of any elite program; past that, you have made the platform-side investment we built the program around.
Past the 10% completion threshold or past 7 days, refunds are case-by-case. We will offer a one-time goodwill swap into a different elite course of equal price for buyers within the window who completed past the gate. The 7-day clock starts on the original charge date, regardless of when you start the course. Payment plan refunds reverse all paid installments and stop future installments from billing.
A refunded elite course is locked from re-purchase for 90 days, including via any subscription tier that bundles it. The lockout closes the obvious arbitrage of refunding standalone then re-acquiring through subscription.
Foundation courses: 30 days, gated on Module 1 completion
Foundation courses (Break In: Career Transition $297, AI-Augmented Cybersecurity Professional $397) refund within 30 calendar days, gated on completion of Module 1. The Module-1 gate is the commitment device: you have to engage with the program before walking away with the money. Foundation courses are entry points and benefit from a longer evaluation window than the elite tier.
If you have not started Module 1 yet, you can refund any time inside the 30-day window. After Module 1 completion, the 30-day window remains open.
Course bundles: 7 days, with a bundle-wide 10% gate
Bundles refund inside 7 days when total bundle completion is below 10% across all courses included. The bundle-wide gate prevents finishing one full course inside the bundle then refunding the entire bundle. Past 10% bundle completion, we offer to keep one course at the standalone $497 / $597 price and refund the remainder. That keeps the buyer with the course they actually used and gives back the unused balance.
Refunding a bundle below the gate removes access to every course included. Pro-rated swaps above the gate keep one course active.
Coaching engagements: 7 days from first session
Coaching is a higher-touch product, so the window is shorter. If you refund before your first session, you get the full amount back. After your first session, you have 7 calendar days from that session to ask for a refund; we refund the full coaching amount.
After the 7-day window closes, we treat refund requests case-by-case. If your coach was unavailable, the format did not match what we promised, or anything else fell short, tell us. Outside-window refunds for legitimate service issues are honored.
One-time products: 14 days, only if not yet delivered
Resume reviews, salary reports, mock interview transcripts, and other one-time deliverables refund in full inside 14 days while the deliverable has not yet been sent. Once we have produced and delivered the work, we treat it as completed; the right remedy is a redo with a different reviewer, scenario, or input set rather than a cash refund.
This single rule change closes the largest abuse vector in the prior policy: the pattern of buying a deliverable, downloading it, then refunding the purchase. We will always offer a redo for legitimate quality issues.
One refund per customer + 90-day re-purchase lockout
Every Stripe customer (matched by customer ID and email) is eligible for one refund across all DecipherU products. After receiving a refund, the refunded course is locked from re-purchase for 90 days, including via any subscription tier that bundles it. Different products are available for purchase immediately. Second refund requests within the same customer record go to manual review and are honored when the case warrants it.
The 90-day lockout closes the most common arbitrage: refunding a standalone course then re-acquiring access through a $129/mo Operator subscription. With the lockout, the refund is a clean exit, not a discount mechanism.
The single-refund cap keeps the policy generous for first-time buyers without creating a recurring drain on a founder-led operation. Service-issue refunds (work that did not match what was promised) do not count against the cap and are honored regardless.
Pause your subscription instead
If the only reason you are refunding is a busy month, pause for 1 to 3 months and resume when you are ready. Pauses freeze billing, preserve your data, and let you pick up exactly where you left off. Email support@decipheru.com or use the pause option in your account settings.
How long the money takes to land
Once approved, we issue the refund through Stripe within two business days. Stripe sends the refund to your card or bank instantly, but your issuer typically posts the credit within 5 to 10 business days. Watch for the DecipherU line item on your statement.
USD only
We charge and refund in US dollars only. International cards convert at your issuer's rate, both ways. We refund the same USD amount you paid; the conversion difference is between you and your bank.

What is the refund window for a single elite course?
7 calendar days from purchase, provided you have completed less than 10% of the course lessons. Past 10% completion we treat the course as accepted and offer a one-time swap into a different course instead. The completion gate stops course-rip-and-bounce abuse without punishing buyers who are evaluating fit. Elite courses are the $497 to $697 mastery programs.
What is the refund window for a foundation course?
30 calendar days from purchase, gated on completion of Module 1. Foundation courses ($297 to $397) require finishing the first module before a refund is available. The Module-1 gate is the commitment device that signals the buyer engaged before deciding to leave.
What is the refund window for a course bundle?
7 calendar days, applied across all courses in the bundle. If you have completed less than 10% of total bundle lessons, full refund. Past that, we offer to keep one course at the standalone price and refund the difference. This prevents completing one course in full then refunding the bundle.
What is the refund window for a coaching engagement?
7 calendar days from your first session. If you have not had your first session yet, you can refund any time before that session. We refund the full coaching amount paid.
Can I refund a subscription?
Yes. Within 14 days of the most recent charge, you get a full refund of that charge while course completion across the bundled curriculum stays under 25%. If you only need a break, ask for a subscription pause (1 to 3 months) instead. Pauses freeze billing and preserve your data.
Can I refund a one-time deliverable like a resume review?
Only if the deliverable has not yet been sent. Once we have delivered the resume review, mock interview transcript, or salary report, we treat the work as completed and offer a redo with a different reviewer or scenario instead of a cash refund.
Is there a limit on how many refunds I can take?

Why is the standalone-course window shorter than the subscription window?
A standalone course is a one-time purchase, so a refund is a hard loss. A subscription is recurring, so the trial-evaluation period naturally extends across the cancel-and-renew cycle. Tightening the standalone window protects the catalog from binge-and-refund abuse without affecting subscription buyers, who already get 14 days plus a 25% completion gate.
How do I request a refund?
File a request at /refund-request. Enter the email you used at checkout, pick the product, and tell us why. We reply within two business days. You do not need a DecipherU account; we match the order through Stripe.
Outside the window. What are my options?
File the request anyway and tell us what happened. Outside the window, refunds are case-by-case. Subscription pauses are usually a better fit. We honor the policy strictly inside the window and treat outside-window cases on the merits.
