How practice questions are made and checked

The steps below are the ones the question files record. Where a step was not done, this page says so. The counts come from the question banks on this server.

How a question is made

1. Drafted with AI. Each bank file states: "AI drafted from the official outline and primary sources; no real exam content used" (46 banks). The questions are written from the exam owner's public outline and from primary sources such as statutes, rules and official handbooks. We do not copy real exam questions, and we do not ask a model to recall them.
2. Sources on every question. 4,076 of 4,076 live questions list at least one https source, 6,121 source links in all. Each source carries the date it was read. The check script (npm run check:banks) fails a bank whose live question has no https source, an explanation under 40 words or a bad date.
3. A second pass by the item team. The reviewer label on live questions reads: "Independent review, DecipherU item team" (4,076). That is the same team that drafted the questions, so we do not call it independent review.
4. No licensed reviewer yet. No question names a licensed professional as reviewer. When one does, the name, credential and date will be on the question and on this page. Until then, treat a practice question as a study aid and check any rule that matters against the exam owner's own handbook, which we link.

How questions are kept current

Rules change on known dates: a statute takes effect, an outline edition is replaced, an election may change a tax rule. A question that depends on such a date carries a re-check date. 362 live questions have one, and 26 are due today or earlier.

• Every Monday a scheduled job (bank-reverify) lists live questions past their re-check date and opens or updates one issue for the team.
• The same list creates a draft exam-change notice for staff. A draft is never sent by itself. A person rewrites it with what changed and the source, then publishes it to the people who asked for alerts on that exam.
• Questions are checked by a person against the primary source, then the question and its date are updated. This is not automatic, so a question can be past its date for a while. The count above shows how many are.

When we get it wrong

Every practice question has a control to report a problem. Reports go into a queue that staff read, where each report shows how long it has waited. We read every report. Confirmed errors are fixed and added to the corrections log with the date, what was wrong, what is right and the source. We do not promise a reply time, because the queue does not enforce one.

The email on a report is optional, is used only to reply about that report, and is deleted when the report is closed. If a wrong question cost you a purchase, the 30-day refund applies; see Terms.

Limits

• These are not real exam questions and not a prediction of your score or a pass.
• AI drafting can produce wrong keys. The source check and the second pass reduce that and do not remove it.
• The second pass is by the same team, and no licensed professional has reviewed the banks.
• Counts and dates above describe the files on this server on the date shown.
