De College Student a Entry-Level Cybersecurity Professional

Cronograma: 3-6 months · Salario esperado: Cybersecurity internships pay $20 to $35 per hour ($40,000 to $70,000 annualized). Entry-level full-time positions for new graduates pay $55,000 to $80,000 depending on location, company size, and role. Government positions (NSA, CISA, DoD) offer $50,000 to $70,000 starting salaries with structured career progression. Students from CAE-designated programs and those with Security+ often receive higher starting offers.

College students have a unique advantage: employers expect you to be early-career, so there is no gap to explain or career change to justify. Whether you are studying cybersecurity, computer science, or an unrelated major, you can position yourself for cybersecurity roles by building certifications, hands-on skills, and a portfolio while still in school. Internships, CTF competitions, and lab projects demonstrate practical ability that many full-time professionals lack.
